Development of a field checking system using GIS and GPS
Term: 2002-2004
Budget Class: Advanced research fund
It needs prodigious labor to check onsite for rice production control, so the checking system by which users can obtain information simply. We are developing onsite rice product checking system by a combination of GIS and GPS with PDA or mobile computers.
Development of a measuring method for cropping area
Term: 2002-2004
Budget Class: Advanced research fund
Rice product control is not always done field by field, but also within a single field, in which case the areas of divided paddy fields must be measured onsite. To save labor, we are developing a system for measuring the areas of fields onsite and storing the data in a database.
Development of an electrical checking system for field checks of rice production
Term: 2002-2004
Budget Class: Advanced research fund
In order to check whether rice cultivation control is begin properly conducted as planed, checkers patrol rice fields and perform visual inspection and it costs much. To make this work more efficient, we are developing a system using digitized information of rice cultivation on IC card and check card improved visibility.
Development of an information system for relayed farming
Term: 2002-2004
Budget Class: Integrated research
To establish whole-year cultivation of crops in regions at different altitudes in different environments, such as those of temperature, it is necessary to collect information about the growth of crops in a unified database using the network, and to use it for the control of cultivation and quality of the crops. To establish efficient relayed cultivation, we will develop a system for efficient management of cultivation and quality control based on the actual conditions of crops.
Development of management software for precision farming
Term: 2003-2007
Budget Class: Precision farming for upland fields
Various kinds of equipments for precision farming have been developed, but the unified management software is not yet available. We are developing the software which can browse prescriptions made based on information about condition of soil and crops from the database, can plan the amount of materials, and can collect, manage and provide the cultivation information.
Development of an information system for positioning and mapping
Term: 2003-2007
Budget Class: Precision farming for upland fields
Commissioned: Hokkaido University
Since the scale of agricultural production in Japan is small, equipments for precision farming developed and used in Europe and America leave much to be improved for use in Japan. We are developing a low-cost positioning system and a mobile processor linking various equipments by CAN synchronized with the management software.
Development of a voice recognition interface for long voice input
Term: 2004-2006
Budget Class: Internal
Recently, voice recognition techniques become advanced and voice recognition system for brief conversations, such as those for the air ticket reservation system, are in practical use. However, there is no voice recognition system for long-time and repetitive recording of voice input that can be used in field work for which both hands may often be occupied. We are developing a voice input system specially designed for field notebook.
Development
of a supporting system for cultivation planning using a dispersed and cooperated
database of agricultural methods
- Development of a supporting system for judgment of the adequacy of crops linked
to the database of agricultural techniques -
Term: 2004-2005
Budget Class: Cooperation system for dispersed databases and models
Collaborated with: NARC
To provide support for new farmers and the introduction of new crops, we are developing a cultivation planning support system for the provision of information for suitability of new breed introduction at a position. This system will be based on the support system for judgment of suitable outdoor vegetables, which was developed in 2003, and linked to the agricultural method database and the cultivation planning system.
This system shall be available at http://www.tekisaku.jp/
