Abstract

If users only speaks their diary to the server with their cellular, the server add the record to the database at their dictation. Collected terms (nearly sentense) input function and synonym dictionary let them to do much more easily.

Background

Today in Japan, cultivation management system is becoming more complicated, because environmental load must be reduced and needs of customers become diversified.

For fine farming management, each farmer must accumurate inofrmation of fields, operations, growth and so on, and regional farming members must share their information to make decisions.

As one of its solutions, a system using cellular phones which can access the Internet may work effectively, but it is very complicated to push buttons of cellular. Therefore an input method which also the aged can use easily for the system is required.

Then, we develop a system including an input method with voice dictation.

Explanation and Feature

1. This system has the character-input version and the voice-input version. The character-input version has the computer version and the cellular version, one of which is selected along users' enveironment. By the character-input version, users can write and read their records connecting to the WWW server with celllars' buttons or computers' keyboards. By the voice-input version, users can speak their farming diary with cellulars (Fig. 1).
2. First, users must regist the list of their own fields, crops for each field, operations(ex. mowing, harvest, spraying, ...) for each crop, chemicals for each crop and operation using the character-input version(Fig. 2).
3. This system supports following items: field, date, time to start, time to finish, operation, chemical (name, concentration and quantity), voice memo, and text memo (Fig. 2).
4. Users can regist their own sinonym to allow thierselves to say shorthand words(ex. "ZI-BE-RE-RI-N SHO-RI (gibberellin treat)" to "ZI-BE SHO-RI").
5. This system has two input methods, one is a "collected-terms" method for expert users to input more fast (less than 30 seconds), and the other one is a "questions-and-answers" method for novice users to complete exactly (Fig. 3); a collected-terms method is done at first and a questions-and-answers method is done sequentially. A collected-term method allow users to say where to do, when to do and what to do. For example, users can say "(where to do) DE, (when to start) KARA, (what to do) O KAISHI" ( means "I start (what to do) from (when to start) in (where to do)" ). A questions-and-answers method prompts users to say one term for each (ex. it sais "SAGYOU KAISHI JIKOKU O OSSHATTE KUDASAI" (please tell me when to start) and users say "IMA" (now), or "12 JI" (12 o'clock) ).
6. Users belong to one group. The members in the same group can read other members' diary. And members can share the list of operations and the list of chemicals to reduce the cost to set up for each.

Notes

1. This system enable you to share your information among your group, and can be applied to the traceability system.
2. A main servers can be completely constructed with freewares. But a voice server needs a voice dictation system (about 500,0000 Yen) anda telephony board (about 700,000 Yen).
3. The system's service can be provided for evaluation.
